NSF-funded CISE Principal Investigators (PIs) may request funds in the amount up to $5000 per 6 months for cloud computing resources to use on public clouds supported by CloudBank: Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, and IBM Cloud. New funds are anticipated to be awarded starting in September 2024 and through January 2025.

Please see the NSF Dear Colleague Letter (DCL 22-087) for eligibility. To apply, PIs should fill out the form below. Requests may be submitted at any time but new awards will not be made till September 2024.  Cloud spend requests will be reviewed by CloudBank in consultation with NSF.

BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR REQUEST, please read through our best practices guide for putting together a proposal and see our tips for estimating cloud spending.   • CloudBank cloud accounts should not be used to store protected or sensitive data that requires compliance protection. If your research involves human-related data, please specify that you will only be working on public datasets or de-identified data in your justification.
  • Human labor services like Mechanical Turk are out of scope for this DCL.
